Improve Storage With Wall Cabinets in Kitchen and Bath

It seems that a home never has enough storage space. Whether the number of things someone owns grows every year with birthdays, shopping sprees and holiday gifts or the number of people in the household grows, there is less and less space to put them. Creating storage space is one way around this problem. Using wooden cabinets throughout the home takes up little space and makes it easier to remove clutter.

Bathroom
Traditionally one of the smallest rooms in the house, the bathroom typically holds items used daily to get ready to face the day. This includes bathing gels and soaps, hair care products, medication, make-up, shaving accessories and the like. When multiple people share one bathroom, it can become a battle for counter space and even medicine cabinet space. It may be time to install another bathroom storage cabinet when things are falling out of the cabinet from overcrowding.

Using a custom built wood cabinet is one way to lessen the problem of too many things in too little space. Replacing the existing model with two matching ones is one option. Using a different size and color cabinet on a different wall will also add to décor and style. An unfinished wood medicine cabinet can be stained or painted to coordinate with the rest of the bathroom. Be sure to choose one that has shelf height far enough apart to be able to store creams, salves, prescriptions and first aid items that are needed.

Kitchen
Finding more space in the kitchen can be done in the same way. Using a spice rack or pantry cabinet will create more space on countertops and in existing cabinets. One disadvantage to keeping spices in a typical wall cabinet is that they usually come in the same size containers. It is very difficult to see any spices except those in the first row, or maybe a few in the second row peeking through the gaps. This can waste precious time in the kitchen while baking. Looking for the right spice often requires pulling out several other containers in order to find the one that the recipe recommends.

A wall spice rack has specially designed shelving to put each jar or container where it can be seen. None of them are hidden. The containers can be turned so that the label is facing the cook, not the wall, and very little time will be spent hunting for the right addition to the dish while cooking a meal.
